Lugnuts fall to Fort Wayne, 5-2

LANSING, Mich. – Wande Olabasi homered and Mike Watt allowed two runs over six quality innings as the Fort Wayne TinCaps (12-11) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (14-10), 5-2, on Sunday afternoon on Jackson Field.
Balbino Fuenmayor's two-run double in the second inning gave the Lugnuts an early 2-0 lead, but that was it for Lansing's offense against the Fort Wayne starter and a trio of relievers.
Watt (2-1) scattered four hits, walking two and striking out three, before turning the ball over to his bullpen. Stiven Osuna pitched the seventh, Miles Mikolas handled the eighth, and Nick Schumacher worked the ninth inning for his third save.
Lansing starter Chad Jenkins (1-2) suffered the loss, serving up four runs, three earned, on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander walked none and struck out seven TinCaps, giving him 29 K's compared to five walks for the season.
After Jenkins was removed with two outs and the bases empty in the sixth, Olabisi greeted incoming reliever Nestor Molina with a solo roundtripper to straightaway center field.
In the loss, Lansing right-fielder Brad Glenn went 1-for-4 to extend his on-base streak to 19 consecutive games.
The Lugnuts and TinCaps wrap up their four-game series on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at Cooley Law School Stadium. The starting pitching matchup will see Lansing right-hander Ryan Tepera (2-0, 3.98) take on Fort Wayne southpaw Dexter Carter (1-3, 4.87).
